How much is it, and what does it cover?

£3 a month, and it covers every club we run — currently Romantasy, Contemporary & Women's Fiction, and Thriller. There's no separate charge per club. Cancel anytime.

Can I go to more than one club?

Absolutely — your membership includes all of them. Come to one a month or all of them, it's the same £3.

How do I book my spot?

When you join, we'll send you instructions for booking through Ticket Tailor. Then each week you'll get an email with the group's pick and a link to book your place. Members get first access, and spaces are capped at 15 per session.

Do I have to attend every month?

Not at all. Come when the book appeals, skip when it doesn't or when life gets busy. No attendance requirement, no guilt trips.

Do I have to buy the book from you?

You don't have to — but buying that month's book from us is how your free coffee or cake works, and it's the best way to support the shop that hosts the clubs. Members get 10% off the pick, so it's usually the easiest option anyway.

Is the free coffee or cake every time?

It's one per month. So if you come to more than one club in a month, it's on us at your first session — after that, the discounted café menu still applies.

What if I'm really shy or nervous about group discussions?

Totally understandable, and you're not alone. Our clubs are designed to be low-pressure — participate as much or as little as you like, and nobody puts you on the spot.

Do I have to live in Bristol to join?

Not at all — everyone's welcome. That said, most members are based in Bristol and the surrounding areas, since we meet in person at our Kingswood bookshop.

Where is Lost in the Reads?

We're an independent bookshop in Kings Chase Shopping Centre, Kingswood, Bristol (BS15 8LP), serving Kingswood, Hanham, Staple Hill, Emersons Green and the surrounding areas.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes — all our events are booked through our online box office. Spaces are deliberately limited, and popular sessions like children's storytimes and author nights often sell out, so we recommend booking ahead rather than turning up on the day.

How much do your events cost?

Children's and family events are ticketed from £3. Author events are ticketed, usually with the option to add the author's book when you book. Our book clubs run on a £3/month membership.

What ages are your children's events for?

We run two strands — gentle sessions for babies and toddlers, and bigger adventures for children aged 6 and up. Each event listing says exactly who it's designed for.

How long do events last?

Most events run between one hour and 90 minutes.

Do I need to have read the book before an author event?

Not at all. Author nights are about hearing the story behind the book and meeting the writer — come whether you've read it or not. You can add the book to your booking if you'd like a signed copy.

Do you run events for adults too?

Yes — alongside our family events, we host author evenings and two monthly book clubs (Romance and Romantasy/Fantasy) for grown-up readers.
