At Lost in the Reads, we run friendly, low-pressure book clubs at our independent bookshop in Kingswood; and one £3/month membership gets you into all of them.

Come to one, come to all, it's the same price.

We choose the next month's read as a group, and if you can't make it or don't fancy it one month, you're totally fine to skip it and come along next time.

How do our Bristol book clubs work?

You join once, for £3 a month, and that unlocks every club we run.

There's no separate fee per club and no "which one do I pick?" — you're welcome at all of them. And you can switch around from month to month, or stick to the same genre if you prefer.

We keep each session capped at 15 people so it stays relaxed and conversational.

We also make sure to keep conversations balanced, so both introverts and extroverts get the experience that works for them. You'll never be drowning in a crowd, and everyone who wants to talk gets the chance to.

How it Works

  1. Join the membership: £3/month, cancel anytime. This is your key to all of the book clubs.

  2. We'll show you how to book. As soon as you join, you'll get instructions for booking onto sessions through TicketTailor.

  3. Each week, you'll get an email letting you know which club is meeting, the book the group chose, a link to buy the book, and a link to book your spot.

  4. Book your place. 15 spaces per session, and members get first access.

  5. Turn up on Thursday, grab your free coffee or cake, and talk books.

What a Book Club Night is Actually Like

Picture this: you arrive at the bookshop after work on a cosy evening, grab your drink or slice of cake, settle into a comfy spot, and ease into a conversation about a book you've just read.

Our group chair keeps things moving and prompts the conversation, giving everyone space to speak.

You don't need to finish the book. Life happens, we get it.

You don't need to talk if you don't want to. Sometimes just listening is lovely.

You just need to enjoy being here. That's it.

Hosting Your Own Book Club

Already have a group of your own? You can book the space for your own gatherings too; whether you're meeting friends, starting something new, or growing an established group.


The bookshop is available Monday to Saturday, 5pm–7pm, or Sundays 3.30pm–5.30pm.

It's free to use when your group orders your books through Lost in the Reads, and we'll provide a complimentary hot drink for everyone so you can settle in and focus on the conversation.

We're always happy to offer recommendations for your next read, too.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is it book club membership, and what does it cover?

£3 a month, and it covers every club we run - currently Romantasy, Contemporary & Women's Fiction, and Thriller. There's no separate charge per club. Cancel anytime.
Can I go to more than one club?

Absolutely — your membership includes all of them. Come to one a month or all of them, it's the same £3.
How do I book my spot?

When you join, we'll send you instructions for booking through TicketTailor. Then each week you'll get an email with the group's pick and a link to book your place. Members get first access, and spaces are capped at 15 per session.
Do I have to attend every month?

Not at all. Come when the book appeals, skip when it doesn't or when life gets busy. No attendance requirement, no guilt trips.
Do I have to buy the book from you?

You don't have to — but buying that month's book from us is how your free coffee or cake works, and it's the best way to support the shop that hosts the clubs.

Members get 10% off the pick, so it's usually the easiest option anyway. We'll always send you a direct link to buy it.
Is the free coffee or cake every time?

It's one per month. So if you come to more than one club in a month, it's on us at your first session — after that, the discounted café menu still applies.
What if I'm really shy or nervous about group discussions?

Totally understandable, and you're not alone. Our clubs are designed to be low-pressure — participate as much or as little as you like, and nobody puts you on the spot. Plenty of our quieter members just love being in a room with fellow book lovers, and that's completely valid.
Do I have to live in Bristol to join?

Not at all — everyone's welcome. That said, most members are based in Bristol and the surrounding areas, since we meet in person at our Kingswood bookshop.
