The Lost in the Reads Book Club meets monthly at our independent bookshop in Kingswood, Bristol.
We run two groups; one for Romantasy lovers, and one for Thriller fans.
No awkward icebreakers. No homework. No pressure to sound clever.
Just great books, friendly faces, and the kind of conversations that make you lose track of time in the very best way.

Romantasy Book Club
Perfect if you love contemporary romance, world-building fantasy, emotional reads, and characters who live rent-free in your head for weeks.
We meet once a month to discuss everything from meet-cutes to happily-ever-afters, with hot drinks and zero judgment.
Thriller Book Club
Heart-pounding pacing, plot twists that leave you reeling, and "just one more chapter" cliffhangers.
Join our monthly discussions to deconstruct every red herring and motive, diving deep into the mystery without taking ourselves too seriously.
What membership gets you
For just £3/month, joining a Lost in the Reads book club gets you:
The book itself is bought separately, so you're free to skip any month that doesn't grab you. No commitment, no guilt!
How it works
We've kept it really simple:
1) Join the Romantasy Book Club or Thriller Book Club (or both!) for £3/month
2) Each month we reveal the book and open bookings for that discussion
3) Decide whether that month's pick suits you
4) Book one of the 15 places for that session
5) Show up, chat books, enjoy your evening
Membership isn't capped, but individual discussion nights are limited to 15 people so they stay relaxed and conversational.
This means everyone actually gets to talk (if they want to) and you're never drowning in a crowd.
What happens at a book club night?
Picture this: you arrive at our independent bookshop in Kingswood after work or on a cosy evening. You grab your drink or slice of cake (on us!), settle into a comfy spot, and ease into a conversation about a book you've just read.
There's no rigid structure. No teacher vibes. Just:
You don't need to finish the book. Life happens. We get it.
You don't need to talk if you don't want to. Sometimes just listening is lovely.
You just need to enjoy being here. That's it!
The Lost in the Reads book club is perfect if you:
You don't need to be a "serious reader." Whatever that even means.
You don't need to know anyone already. Most people come alone and leave with new book recommendations (and often, new friends!).
You'll be welcomed either way. Promise.

Location: Lost in the Reads, Kingswood, Bristol
Frequency: Once a month (Romantasy and Thriller on separate evenings)
Duration: Around an hour of pure book chat

Hosting your own book club
We also offer the option for book clubs to book the space for their own events, whether you’re meeting with friends, starting something new, or growing an established group.
The bookshop is available for reserving as a meetup space on Mondays to Saturdays from 5pm to 7pm, or Sundays from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
The venue is totally free to use when you order your books through Lost in the Reads. We’ll provide a complimentary hot drink for everyone in your group, so you can settle in, get comfortable and focus on the conversation.
If you’d like help choosing your next read, we’re always happy to offer recommendations too. Once you’re booked in, all that’s left to do is turn up, grab a drink and start talking books!
Not at all! These book clubs are open to everyone. That said, most members are based in Bristol and the surrounding areas since we meet in person at our Kingswood bookshop.
No — membership itself is unlimited. But each monthly discussion is capped at 15 people to keep things intimate and friendly. So while anyone can join the club, you'll need to book your spot for individual sessions.
Absolutely not. Come when the book appeals to you, skip when it doesn't or when life gets busy. There's no attendance requirement and no guilt trips.
If you're attending the discussion, yes — and here's why: buying from us directly supports our independent Bristol bookshop, which makes it possible to host these evenings in the first place. Plus, you'll often get your book at member pricing!
Totally understandable, and you're not alone. Our book clubs are specifically designed to be low-pressure. You can participate as much or as little as you like, and nobody puts you on the spot. Many of our quieter members say they love just being in a room with fellow book lovers, and that's completely valid.
Yes! If you love both Romantasy and Thrillers, you're welcome to join both for £6/month total. Double the books, double the fun.
