Where is Lost in the Reads?

We're an independent bookshop in Kings Chase Shopping Centre, Kingswood, Bristol (BS15 8LP), serving Kingswood, Hanham, Staple Hill, Emersons Green and the surrounding areas.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes — all our events are booked through our online box office. Spaces are deliberately limited, and popular sessions like children's storytimes and author nights often sell out, so we recommend booking ahead rather than turning up on the day.

How much do your events cost?

Children's and family events are ticketed from £3. Author events are ticketed, usually with the option to add the author's book when you book. Our book clubs run on a £3/month membership.

What ages are your children's events for?

We run two strands — gentle sessions for babies and toddlers, and bigger adventures for children aged 6 and up. Each event listing says exactly who it's designed for.

How long do events last?

Most events run between one hour and 90 minutes.

Do I need to have read the book before an author event?

Not at all. Author nights are about hearing the story behind the book and meeting the writer — come whether you've read it or not. You can add the book to your booking if you'd like a signed copy.

Do you run events for adults too?

Yes — alongside our family events, we host author evenings and two monthly book clubs (Romance and Romantasy/Fantasy) for grown-up readers.

Shannon Chakraborty, the bestselling author of The City of Brass, launches a new trilogy of magic and mayhem with this tale of pirates and sorcerers, forbidden artefacts and ancient mysteries, and one woman’s quest to seize a final chance at glory… A pirate of infamy and one of the most storied and scandalous captains to sail the seven seas. Amina al-Sirafi has survived backstabbing rogues, vengeful merchant princes, several husbands, and one actual demon to retire peacefully with her family to a life of piety, motherhood, and absolutely nothing that hints of the supernatural. But when she’s offered a job no bandit could refuse, she jumps at the chance for one final adventure with her old crew that will make her a legend and offers a fortune that will secure her and her family’s future forever.

Yet the deeper Amina dives the higher the stakes. For there’s always risk in wanting to become a legend, to seize one last chance at glory, to savour just a bit more power…and the price might be your very soul.

From the bestselling author of The City of Brass comes an electrifying new trilogy that will leave you breathless. The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi is a swashbuckling tale of magic, mayhem, and one legendary pirate captain pulled back into the game she thought she'd left behind.

Amina al-Sirafi is a name whispered in taverns across the seven seas—a captain of infamy who's outwitted merchant princes, survived treacherous crews, and even faced down a demon. She's earned her retirement: a quiet life of piety and motherhood, far from the supernatural dangers that once defined her. Until an offer arrives that no bandit could refuse.

One final heist. One last chance at glory. Her old crew reunited. A fortune that will secure everything she loves forever. But as Amina chases this irresistible prize, the stakes spiral dangerously higher. Ambition has a cost, and legend always demands a price—perhaps even your soul.

Perfect for fans of high-stakes fantasy adventure, cunning antiheroes, and richly imagined worlds where magic and maritime peril collide.
